About Tamar & Teise Psychotherapy
Susan Irving launched Tamar Psychotherapy as part of a network of psychotherapists who offered services across Devon and Cornwall. At the time she was the only qualified Couple Analytical Psychotherapist in the area.
Susan was born and raised in Cornwall, and had a personal understanding of the challenges that can result from cultural differences unique to a Cornish background.
Susan has now relocated to the Kent/Sussex border but retains an address in Cornwall.
She was originally employed as a Psychiatric Social Worker in two London Teaching hospitals before embarking on a Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy training for individuals with the British Association of Psychotherapists.
Susan has worked as a psychotherapist in private practice and in the NHS since 1985 and has since completed a training and obtained a Masters degree in Couple Psychotherapy from the University of East London with TCCR (Tavistock Relationships).
She is a visiting clinician at Tavistock Relationships and is a supervisor on their training. She is a Full member of the British Psychoanalytic Association and thence is a member of the International Psychoanalytic Association.
Susan is registered to practice with the British Psychoanalytic Council both as an individual and couple psychotherapist. She is bound by the Code of Ethics of the British Confederation of Psychotherapists.
